The Renault Kiger has won the 2022 carandbike Subcompact Car of the Year award. The French carmaker launch the subcompact SUV in early 2021, and it is built on Renault-Nissan Alliances’ CMF-A platform. The Renault Kiger had to compete with the all-electric Tata Tigor EV to win this award. While the all-electric Tigor gave a tough competition, the Kiger’s turbo petrol engine and the CVT automatic transmission managed to impress our jury members.
The Renault Kiger comes in two petrol engine options – a 1.0-litre Energy naturally aspirated engine, and the 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor. The former makes 71 bhp and 96 Nm of peak torque, and comes mated to a 5-speed manual and an optional AMT unit. On the other hand, the Kiger 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol version, which makes 98 bhp and 160 Nm of peak torque and comes mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission.
Both version of the Renault Kiger comes in four variants – RXE, RXL, RXT, and RXZ, and they are priced in the range of ₹ 5.79 lakh to ₹ 10.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
