Kerr’s first professional victory came in the Ironwood FUTURES Classic on the Futures Tour in April 1995, when she was still an amateur. After graduating from high school, she turned professional in 1996 at the age of 18, playing on the Futures Tour and the Players West Tour. She tied for sixth place at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament in October 1996 to earn exempt status for 1997.
Her LPGA career began slowly; she entered the top fifty on the money list in her third season in 1999, but did not win until her sixth. In 2002, she won the Longs Drugs Challenge in California, which was her first LPGA event.In 2005, she won two tournaments and climbed to third place on the money list. She tied for second place in the US Women’s Open in 2000, and she repeated the feat in the 2006 Women’s British Open.
