The threatening murder occurred on October 9, 2020, in the early morning on Oak Cliff street, when American Airlines manager James “Jamie” Faith was shot by a hooded attacker while out for a morning walk alongside his wife, Jennifer, and their dog in Dallas, Texas.
He was confirmed dead at the crime scene. Authorities discovered a murder plot planned by the victim’s wife with the help of her former high school lover, Darrin Lopez. Jennifer confided to a friend that she and her ex-boyfriend had reunited at the onset of the pandemic in March 2020.
The couple was having an “emotional affair.”
Jennifer Faith’s community members gathered together months before she pleaded guilty to killing her husband.
They provide her emotional and financial assistance to the Faith family in their time of need. Jennifer’s community rallied behind her, contributing more than $60,000 on a GoFundMe page to help her and her daughter help
compensate for Jamie’s revenue loss. They also fed the bereaved family with food.
“I think those contributions were flowing in from all around once the GoFundMe was set up,” Svelan remarked. “It was shocking to see how much money was donated and how much people were contributing. Over $60,000 was raised on GoFundMe.”
According to court filings, Jennifer Faith leveraged the donations to buy Lopez a Samsung QLED large-screen television and pay for his and his kids’ airline tickets. Jennifer Faith took $58,000 from her GoFundMe account over two months. She left a $6,500 unpaid burial bill, according to authorities.
“I look at it more as not stealing from GoFundMe but stealing from her family, friends, and community … people who loved Jamie. That’s who she was stealing from,” Svelan stated.
A new episode of 48 Hours is dedicated to the investigation. The show, titled “The Plot to Kill Jamie Faith,” will air on the CBS Television Network and be streamed on Paramount+ on Saturday, April 9 at 9 p.m.
The episode focuses on the murder of Jamie Faith, who was killed in broad daylight when he and his wife Jennifer left their Dallas home for an early morning dog walk.
“Even as she publicly claimed she was ‘desperate for answers regarding her husband’s murder, Jennifer Faith was communicating with the alleged killer, actively urging him to destroy evidence and attempting to delete incriminating communications from her phone,” according to the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.
“Three times to the head, three times to the chest and once to the groin. … And then [someone] turns to the wife, takes the time to pull out duct tape and wrap her wrists,” Jack says. “As soon as I saw it, I thought, ‘That’s a hit.’”
Jennifer Faith pleaded guilty to planning the murder in February 2022 to avoid the death penalty.
