Born in Cardiff, Wales, and after playing for the Cardiff Civic Service Football Club, Gareth Bale started to get insight into his football abilities. The school PE instructor had to give him a set of different rules when he entered high school or else he was too dominant in the play. He was a rugby, track and field athlete. From 2005 to 2006 he played as a youth player for Southampton, and in 2006, when he was just 16, he was stumbled into Senior League play. He was considered a success in his first professional year and earned the Young Player of the year Football League award.
