Kirk, who was 75 years old at his death, was born on May 2, 1946. He is from McAllen, Texas, and has lived in the RGV his whole life, except for his time at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, where he studied art.
He had always been a philanthropist. Kirk was a long-time supporter of many local institutions and charities, including the International Museum of Art and Science, Trinity Episcopal Church in Pharr, and the Valley Symphony Orchestra.
