Matt Kuchar PGA Wiikipedia
Kuchar began his professional career in November 2000, following a brief stint at a financial services firm. He failed to register for the 2000 qualifying school before the deadline. In 2001, he received sponsor’s exemptions to a number of PGA Tour events, and he earned enough money to be totally exempt for the 2002 season.
Kuchar’s first PGA Tour victory came in 2002 at the Honda Classic. In 2005, he had a bad year, winning less than $403,000 and finishing 159th on the money list, which cost him his tour card. In 2006, he played on the Nationwide Tour after failing to reclaim it at a qualifying school. Kuchar regained his PGA Tour membership for 2007 after winning the Henrico County Open and finishing tenth on the Nationwide Tour money list.
In 2010, Matt was named to the Ryder Cup team, taking the eighth and last merit spot on the 12-man U.S. team on August 15. Kuchar led the PGA Tour in top-10 finishes for the year at the time, but he had yet to win a tournament.
The winless drought came to an end two weeks later at The Barclays, which was held at the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey, on August 29; Kuchar overcame Martin Laird in a sudden-death playoff on the first hole. In 2010, he earned the Vardon Trophy and the Byron Nelson Award for lowest scoring average, as well as the PGA Tour’s Arnold Palmer Award for money leader.
Kuchar had a strong start to the 2011 season, finishing in the top ten three times in the first three weeks. He finished T6 at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions on Maui, the first PGA Tour event. He finished T5 at the Sony Open in Hawaii the following week, and then T7 at the Bob Hope Classic the following week.
Kuchar represented the United States at the 2019 Presidents Cup, which was held at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia in December. The United States squad won 16–14. Kuchar went 0–1–3, but in Sunday singles, he came back from 3 down to halve the match against Louis Oosthuizen.
On 17, Kuchar made the Cup-clinching putt. He won the Singapore Open on the Japan Golf Tour on January 19, 2020. The Asian Tour was a co-sponsor of the event.
