Scott McCulloch (born Ramsay Scott McCulloch in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada — died September 24, 2000 in Japan) was a Canadian voice actor, narrator, music director and disc jockey. He is known for his voice acting work in several video games, including the Tekken and Time Crisis series, as well as The Note.

 

He is mostly known as the original voice actor for Richter Belmont in the 1997 English PlayStation version of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (replaced in this role by Liam O’Brien and David Vincent in later titles), as well as for voicing Chris Redfield in the original 1996 English version of Resident Evil for the same console.

He also was the narrator in Castlevania (N64) and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness.

Career

In 1995, Scott did voiceover roles in two games: Tekken and Tekken 2, where he voiced Paul Phoenix. In 1996, he voiced Chris Redfield in Resident Evil. His next most notable video game role was Richter Belmont in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (1997).

Scott was the intro narrator and Paulo’s voice actor in The Note (1997). He was also the opening narrator in Castlevania 64 and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness (both released in 1999). He also voiced Wild Dog in Time Crisis (1997), Time Crisis II (2001) and Time Crisis 3 (2003). He provided additional voices in Tekken 5 (2005).

Scott worked alongside Barry Gjerde and Lynn Harris in several games. According to Gjerde, McCulloch’s voice and the lines from the previous versions of the games were reused in Time Crisis IITime Crisis 3Time Crisis: Game Zone and Tekken 5.

Death

McCulloch died in a traffic accident on September 24, 2000 in Japan.,
