Ketanji Brown Jackson is an attorney and judge in the United States. Since 2021, she has had the privilege of serving as a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She was born Ketanji Onyika Brown in Washington, D.C., on September 14, 1970, and raised in Miami, Florida.

Jackson went to Harvard University for her undergraduate and law school educations, where she worked as an editor for the Harvard Law Review.

She began her legal career with three clerkships, one of which was with United States Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer. In addition, Jackson married surgeon Patrick G. Jackson, whose family is Boston Brahmin, in 1996. She is linked to former House Speaker Paul Ryan through her marriage. Patrick Jackson is a descendant of Jonathan Jackson, a delegate to the Continental Congress, and is related to Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr., Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
