Chief of Police Pete Arredondo announced at a press conference conducted by the Uvalde CISD on Tuesday that the incident occurred at the elementary school at approximately 11:32 a.m. on Tuesday.
Children in the second, third, and fourth grades were affected. He acknowledged that there were several injuries and deaths in the “mass casualty incident.”
Arredondo also verified that the suspect is dead and that the police believe they acted alone. Governor Greg Abbott identified the shooter as Salvador Ramos, who is 18 years old, during a press conference.
